“If we want to feel an undying passion for our work, if we want to feel we are contributing to something bigger than ourselves, we all need to know our WHY.” – Simon Sinek
Do you know your “WHY?” This idea was popularized by Simon Sinek, and it’s powerful. Perhaps for you, there are numerous reasons why you do what you do. The question is, have you identified them?
If not yet, then it’s time to do some introspection to recognize the values and purpose that you want to be operating on.
Acknowledging and leaning on the reason why you do things is vital, if not more important than what you actually do. It’s the drive and motivation that will accelerate you to success.
When challenges and struggles come as they always do, you can look back at your ‘whys,’ and find the motivation to push through it because you have a deeper purpose.
You can also use your ‘why’ as a filter to determine what works best for you and what will bring you closer to making your plans happen and achieving the goals you have set. It will also help you identify what your highest priorities are so you can use your time wisely and focus on what matters most.
Take some time and ask yourself these questions;
- What’s the most important to you? In your personal life and professional life?
- Why do you do what you do?
- And what’s the purpose you have for your future?
Once you identify this and start living in accordance with that, you will see how it can change your career and your life for the better.
